Ten Interview Questions for the Next Big Thing:
What is your working title of your book?
That's a toughie. I'm still working on a fitting title. When I figure it out, I'm SURE I will write a blog post on it.
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Here we go, a question I can answer! I lived in Oklahoma for 7 years, met some great people and saw some pretty awesome places. I wanted to write about them, but didn't know where to begin. A good friend of mine (Ami Hendrickson) and I spent a few hours hashing out ideas and characters to fit the setting and the rest is history.
What genre does your book fall under?
Romantic Suspense/Mystery
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I would DIE and go to heaven if Mary-Louise Parker played my heroine, Maggie. She has the same spit-fire attitude and scrappy fight Maggie has. Unfortunately, Ms. Parker is too old to play the part, but if a younger actress could pull off her mad attitude skills, I'd consider a swap. That's a tall order though.

As for my hero... hmmm. I think Chris Hemsworth could pull off playing Jake, my hero. So could Chris Evans. All that is required is a lot of muscle, some fight and that dreamy look in his eyes when he falls in love. Both actors have that "caught in the act" smile I go swoony for. That is Jake to a T!
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
US Marshal newbie, Maggie Peck is assigned to protect a
geriatric witness protection community in middle-of-nowhere Seward, Oklahoma,
where her first blown cover puts her on a manhunt for a dirty-cop from her
romantic past. (I'm all about cavorting with the enemy)
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I don't have an agent, but I do have an editor (actually editors plural) in Rochelle French and Nina Bruhns. My manuscript rights are under the care of Entangled Press in the Dead Sexy line.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I am at the beginning of writing my untitled book. The first week has been a beast trying to get past a bad bout of writer's block, but after a good long chat with my butt kicking writing partner and an encouraging plot fest with my editor, I've been off and writing like a mad woman! My goal is to have a first draft by March 1st or before.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Another blank. To my knowledge, I've only come across one other Romance writer close to my writer's voice and that is Janet Evanovich. Her writing rules!
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Like Jeanie, I was asked to write it. Super cool, right? The editors at Entangled fell in love with my writing style and voice and wanted to see more. How could I refuse? The only other person I have to give credit to for inspiration goes to the hubby. My man is "that guy" and no, he's not up for grabs. Sorry ladies.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
If you like non-stop action, shootouts, and a good mystery peppered with two people destined to be together, then you'll love the book. Oh, and it's got some funny bits in it too. Couldn't resist.
